esCarpade Day 0 - Scrutineering and Welcome Dinner

The boys woke up early in the morning... after having coffee, they decided to go for a bit of a wander around downtown Lismore...

They stumbled across the back alley gallery.

This old phone booth was a free book exchange.

Apparently the boys are here!

A very old belltower on the old post/telegraph building.

The river is way down there... it's astounding how much water must have gone through Lismore during the floods...

Hoges was impressed by this tree...

So many buildings still under renovation...

Once the time had arrived for scrutineering the boys lined up...

After getting ticked off at scrutineering, Retro Rock-It had a quick bath, fuel up, checked the fluids and was put to bed for the rest of the day...

Time for some snacks and a quiet drink before dinner...

Pretty much taking over the motel...

esCarpade cars...

As far as the eye can see...

Even out the back!

Time for the driver briefing...

This blurry photo says there are 53 entrant cars, 14 official vehicles and 168 people on esCarpade this year!  The cars will travel through 31 towns, and coincidentally it's the 31st year of esCarpade!

Lined up waiting for dinner!

Lismore Heights bowling club has a nice view out the window!

And shimmy, shimmy!

Damian and Hoges with the CQ frame...

Selfie!

The wait is almost over... one more sleep until the boys will have the first day of driving for esCarpade 2023.

And the fundraising total has continued to sneak along, now sitting at $16501.. It's not too late to donate if you want to help the boys reach even higher!

Queensland Pre-Scrutineering

Damian and Hoges headed off reasonably early to Gympie where Queensland pre-scrutineering was to be held.

Selfie time!

Some familiar faces... err... vehicles were also present!

The sharkmobile is no longer, replaced by the buccaneers... for now!

Retro Rock-It lining up...

On the hoist...

Yep, that's a car!

Gordon hamming it up for Rachel's video!

Good to see Retro Rock-It passing with flying colours, with just a couple of minor to-dos...

Off to the RSL for lunch, where Damian spotted a Giggle Hat... how appropriate!

Lunch time...

Hoges having a refreshing sarsparilla!

Damian receiving his plaque from the 2021/22 esCarpade from Rachel...

Heading home, the boys spotted a nice old car...

One of the minor annoyances was that Damian noticed the battery has gone flat in the tripmeter...

Open heart surgery...

And with the new battery, the message is goneski!  More importantly, the tripmeter doesn't forget where it was up to every time the car is turned off!

New stickers and collateral... including a nice cherry sticker for Hoges (since it's his first esCarpade)!

esCarpade is sneaking up quickly... Damian has now booked the boys accommodation, just about has all the paperwork in order and Retro Rock-It is looking the goods, so just the packing and preparation to go, plus a couple of minor things that will feature in other blog posts!

2022 esCarpade Day 0 - Scrutineering

Damian was up early and thought that with an hour or two to go until scrutineering, he might go and find some coffee... it had been drizzling a bit overnight, but it wasn't too bad...

It was still dark while Damian wandered around Albury...

But he found coffee!!

Daybreak... looking a bit overcast...

A tumbleweed that had hitched a lift... Damian had already cleared them out of the air intake at the front...

Heading to scrutineering...

Jacob Toyota kindly gave up their workshop...

Lined up to go on the hoist...

Up on the hoist - no problems for Retro Rock-It!

Quick selfie with Rach who organises esCarpade!

Selfie with Bill...

Finished... time for a sausage sizzle...

Selfie with Bill's wife Carmel!!  Equal opportunity selfies!

Jim from Pineapple took this pic of Damian and Jason...

Quick pitstop to pick up some bits and pieces...  The door striker needed adjusting...

Before heading to Nourier Park for the Porsche event...

Lots of Porches to be seen!

Beside a river where a tree decided to have a swim!

This one sensibly stayed standing...

Trees!

And RIP Charlie... esCarpade legend.

This year is the 30th Anniversary of esCarpade...

The boys went back to their accommodation where they helped team Tru Blu with some annoying car issues... had a few drinks and hung around waiting for the driver briefing and welcome dinner...
