Brakes and Stickers

Damian had one minor thing to look into after scrutineering - front brakes.  Booking it into the local K-Mart Tyre and Auto Service (so he could use a gift card donated by the Corvette Club of Queensland), Damian headed off...

After getting it up on the hoist, it was discovered that the front brake pads had plenty of meat left on them, but it was the rears that were decimated...  Unfortunately he had only ordered the front pads, but luckily, he was able to get a set of rear pads on the early morning run!!

Damian decided that since he'd ordered in the front pads (which were showing some signs of uneven wear due to a sticking calliper), he might as well replace both front and rears... And do a complete brake fluid flush!

Test drive time...  Drove like a treat, stopped like a charm!!

Back at home, Damian had decided that the blue Retro Rock-It graffiti on the back just wasn't standing out enough...

How about a nice yellow outline?

That certainly stands out much better from a distance... this is after one coat (hand painted), so Damian will apply a second coat in the coming days...

In unrelated news, it became apparent that there simply weren't enough Camp Quality stickers on the car - unless people recognised the Giggle logo, it might have been confusing about which charity Retro Rock-It was supporting...

The last remaining window sticker (from literally 9 years ago)…

Time to send Giggle on a trip in the Retro Rock-It...

There's a good spot... looks like it could do with a port-hole to look out!!

That's better!!

Next, some of the bravest dry-sticking of a sticker you will ever see...

Dry-stuck on a curved surface across multiple planes and ready for trimming (so the boot can still be opened).  There isn't a photo of the trimmed sticker - it didn't turn out...  The sticker did, but not the photo!!

And removing the backing on the window sticker...  it was painful!!  Nine year old stickers don't want to let go of the backing and attach themselves to windows...

And here's a nice spot for an esCarpade sticker...

Voila!!  There's one on the other side of the car, also, but again, no pictures... Damian's getting slack in his old age!!

How about on the front?  This nice, blank bullbar seems like a good spot!!

Nice...

The last remaining item (other than more stickers, and potentially a bit more theming) is a nice, new set of tyres... they are booked in for next weekend, so hopefully with a good set of all-terrain tyres underneath her, Retro Rock-It will perform well on the roads between Bathurst, Lightning Ridge and Wagga Wagga (and all the stops in between)!!
