2019 esCarpade Day 2 - Sale to Bendigo

Waking up in Sale, the sun was peeking through, and Retro Rock-It looked awesome...  Damian and Angus had had a long night - not feeling the best... Hopefully the worst was behind them!

Damian popped the bonnet to check the dusty engine - no oil top up required so far.

Being in the first group for a school visit, Damian loaded up the lollies...

At breakfast...

Plenty of people enjoying the hospitality...

Put on by the Lions Club of Sale!

Ben with the day 2 driver briefing... turns out there was a 6km section that was extremely rutted with deep potholes requiring extreme caution...  Given Damian and Angus weren't feeling fabulous, and were going to the school visit, they decided to do the bitumen to lunch!

The puppeteers Abby and Robbie giving a demo of the esCarpade song for the school visit!

Tim and Jason in the LUGG (luggage) truck heading out...

Lined up waiting for the grand entrance to the school visit...

Rock and ROLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!

Inside the school...  At this point, Damian commenced geeing up the kids by throwing handfuls of lollies at them... The deputy principal asked if they were lollies, and of course, Damian said they were!  Turns out they didn't want any lollies thrown at the kids... they are a healthy school!

Sadly, this didn't match the official information in the bible... OOPS!!  Damian immediately stopped throwing lollies and told the other esCarpadians no lollies were allowed...  Poor kids missing out!

After the puppet show, Damian and Angus stopped by the chemist to pick up some tablets to settle their stomachs, and headed to McDonald's for a coffee...  while there, they found out from some locals that they would be driving for 8 hours if they attempted to get from Sale to Marysville then to Bendigo, as opposed to 4 hours going directly to Bendigo...

Armed with this information, the boys decided to go straight to Bendigo, and hooked up with Batman and Iron Man who had remained in town to fix the Bat Mobile's broken steering...

Angus had a snooze...

Batman with the afterburners on...

And what would a bitumen trip be without roadworks?

The direct route basically took the boys down through Melbourne...

Through some dodgy tunnel...

And past about a million toll points!

They seem to have an issue with making square structures in Melbourne!

Again with the crooked buildings...

And what the locals call the "French Fry and Carrot Sticks"...

Through Melbourne and out the other side...

Past the Calder Park raceway...

Welcome to the Macedon Ranges!

Stopping in the town of Macedon for afternoon tea...

Ange aka Catwoman thinking about having a tub in the trough!

Macedon Railway Hotel... closed!

After having a bite to eat and a coffee, it was back on the road for the last 100km or so to Bendigo.

Welcome to Bendigo!

Iron Man delivering a cathedral, it would seem!

After checking in, the boys found their motel, Damian fuelled up Retro Rock-It and relaxed before dinner...  Angus has decided to have a rest tonight, but Damian will fly the flag for Retro Rock-It!
