2019 esCarpade Day 3 - Bendigo to Dunkeld to Mount Gambier

Long post warning...  Damian is aware that some blog readers would prefer there were less pictures... however, he also knows that some blog readers think the more the merrier!!  This post has 377 photos... you have been warned!

Waking up on sunrise in Bendigo, esCarpade day 3 had arrived...  Damian tried for an artistic photo of Retro Rock-It... this one was too dark...

This one was too bright!

But this one was juuuuuuuuuuuuuust right!

Nearly time to head to breakfast...

Breakfast...

At The Bendigo Club.

Delicious!

Angus looking through the route notes...

Damian and Cathy (aka mini mouse).

Ben getting ready for the day 3 driver briefing...

And they're off!!

Being stalked by Bumble Bee...

The boys wound their way through peak hour traffic in Bendigo...

Before finally hitting the dirt!

Some teams found the day a little annoying... but mostly they didn't require assistance...

Plenty of long, sweeping dirt roads...

Sometimes it was squeezy sharing the  roads!

Fun stop in Avoca...

MED1 - HEATHERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!  And Ray.

Nigel (aka Mickey Mouse) at the fun stop tossing a beanbag...

Some of the roads had some ruts and potholes...

Angus isn't sleeping, he's checking for the next route note!!

Up a very windy hill!

Triangles out... safety first!!

Catching 81 on the double-back after a hairpin bend...

Lots of wind turbines on the hills...

Getting closer...

They are pretty big close up, but not a single one was turning!  Thankfully there's another source of energy in use!

This town had the last fuel for the day (until Mount Gambier)... although they had only done 200km, the boys decided to top up anyway!

Heading towards the Grampians...

Over a canal...

Without much water in it...

And into the Dunkeld Consolidated Public School for lunch...

The kids had made wonderful posters - one for each car...

Retro Rock-It's looked the goods!

A fantastic feast...

Each team also received a hand-made thank you card, and a jar of home made preserved lemons...

Cars lined up on the oval for the official group photo...

Ben's driver briefing...

After lunch it was back onto the road to head towards Mount Gambier!

Slow and steady while the farmer moved his sheep from one paddock to another, across the esCarpade course...

This section closed in on the cars...

Some cars scalped the grass as they came through...

Back onto the open roads...

This was a very tight squeeze!

Stopping to wait for other cars to head into Mount Gambier...

Blue Lake...

The boys arrived in Mount Gambier safe and sound, having had a fantastic trip on the dirt... The tracks were some of the best ever, and the lunch was definitely the best lunch stop that Damian and Angus had been involved in...  That will take some topping!

    1. Thanks Kaye! Hard to believe that it's been 10 years - of course we couldn't have done it without the support of awesome sponsors like you!
