2017 Brisbane Billycart Championships

Sunday morning, and Damian was up bright and early ready to head to the 2017 Brisbane Billycart Championships at the Carindale Recreation Reserve... an event put on by the Rotary Club of Carindale.

Don't let the brightness fool you... it was early in the morning!!

Heading down the highway...  the setup looking the goods!!

Of course, there's always time for a selfie!!  Damian is modelling the 2017 esCarpade official shirt - coincidentally a nice red colour!!

Lined up at the top of the course, waiting for patrons to arrive...

Looking the goods!!

Throwing up some Camp Quality banners... one in the presentation tent...

One on the fence near the finish line...

The starting ramps, with a couple of hard working Rotarians having a quick break before proceedings commence...

The view from the top of the ramp...

Damian on the mic...  wearing his Team Booger Mobile gear - old habits die hard!!

The crowd increased, and the glorious spring day continued...  Meanwhile, Damian's hayfever kicked into overdrive - he must have sneezed twenty times across the day!!

Not every day you see a prime-mover billycart!!  This one went on to win the best engineered cart of the day...

These two guys had two of the fastest carts of the day, and went on to battle it out in the final...  The cart on the far side won most creative cart of the day.

About to be run over...

And they're away!!

Neck and neck heading to the finish line...

On the way home, Damian spotted this mini station wagon towing a mini station wagon trailer...

After giving the driver a friendly wave on the way past, Damian realised that he recognised Craig - an esCarpade entrant from Victoria who had driven up to Queensland for work!!  After pulling into the next service station, Damian and Craig had an impromptu reunion, before posing for an obligatory selfie and heading on their way!!

Under six weeks to go until the start of the 2017 Camp Quality esCarpade... time to get cracking on the theming of Retro Rock-It so that it's not just a burgundy coloured Fairmont!!

On the fundraising front, the boys are still a couple of grand away from their minimum total required...  Thanks to those who have donated, and if you haven't yet, and can spare a few dollars, please click that big, yellow "DONATE NOW" button up on the top right hand corner…
