Cabling... again. Honestly, how much more could there be?

Father's Day 2017... Happy Father's Day to all the Dads out there!!  Merlin decided he would hang around with Damian again, while he worked on Retro Rock-It...  Damian's boys were at various times at work, doing assignments/studying and catching up with their friends, so he spent the day pottering around with Retro Rock-It.

First step, make a backing plate to hold the three lots of electrical items for under the dash, namely one fuse block attached to the accessories setting, one fuse block with permanent power (needed for things like the Coga PA siren/pa system), and an earth peg.

Looks like a good size...

After a quick sand, it was time to...

Paint it black!!

While the paint was drying, Damian was advised that he could use some metal polish to make the headlights less cloudy...  Here's the before picture...

Followed by the after picture...  There's definitely a difference, but not massive.

Meanwhile, the under-dash wiring up continued...  First up, a set of terminals to connect the "always on" fuse block to the power...

The space below the fire extinguisher to the front of the foot well is where the blocks will be mounted.

To ensure the earth peg will have a nice lot of earthiness, Damian prepared a second earthing cable to run between the battery and the front guard.

Nice sanding of the inner guard earthing hole to ensure a good connection.

Next up, it was time for Damian to lose concentration and get his thumb caught in the drill...  after a few choice words, some antiseptic cream and kissing it better with a bandaid, it was all systems go again!!

Completed mounting panel, with (from left to right) the accessories fuse block, permanent power fuse block and earthing peg.

After pulling the front of the car apart, and his hair out, Damian finally got the front plate attached, with the loss of only two nuts (not a euphemism) to the inside of the front panel...  They will turn up sometime, for sure!!

Another big day of work, that didn't really seem to achieve all that much...  Some of these things are just tediously slow to accomplish...

Still, onwards and upwards!!  Next weekend, Damian will be taking Retro Rock-It for its first fundraising outing to the Brisbane Billycart Championships, where Damian will be MC'ing the event as per the past few years...

With esCarpade only seven weeks away, it's really getting to the pointy end now!!  Damian probably should get his accommodation booked at some point!!
