2022 esCarpade Day 5 - Mudgee to Gilgandra to Coonabarabran

As per usual, Damian was up early and off to find a nice cup of coffee for him and Jason...

The clouds looked a little foreboding... what would the day have in store?

Breakfast!  Past the town clock...

Past the Tuesday night dinner venue and welcome Camp Quality!

Ready for breakfast...

These old fire trucks were mint!

Damian stumbled upon Bundy for a quick selfie...

Mmmmm... coffee!

Driver briefing...

And heading off into the morning drive...

Past Rosby Wines... makers of the delightful 2016 Shiraz the boys had the previous night.

It wasn't too long before the rain started...

Gulgong...

And onto dirt!

It wasn't too long before the rain turned the dirt to mud!

Ye Olde Main Street...

Take that on esCarpade!

And the rain stopped, and the dust returned!

Mad Hatters in a spot of bother...

A nice old pub...

And a painted silo...

And a quick stop to stretch the legs...

And back on the road!

Selfie time!

And what would a day on esCarpade be without roadworks?

And stopping in Mendooran...

Best selfie ever!

The weather had made the remaining part of the morning section impassable, so the esCarpadians stopped for a coffee (and to clean out the local bakery in their busiest day ever), before heading on the bitumen to lunch.

Mad Hatters problem turned out to be with their radiator...

Nice painted buildings...

Twinsies!

Back on the road, and heading up the highway to Gilgandra for lunch.

399999km...

400000km for Retro Rock-It!

And arriving at the Gilgandra Bowls Club for lunch...

Mad Hatters arrived on the back of OKA...

Harry from Team Buzz Like You demonstrates the correct lawn bowls technique... this will be important for dinner!

Lunch time driver briefing... tracks are open... get amongst it!

And the rain started again...

Good thing about the rain is that there is no dust...

Jason took the afternoon drive...

The track got wetter and more treacherous...

Bearbong Road... The bear did what?

Benza picked a poor time to have mechanical issues...

And into the fun stop in the foothills of the Warrumbungles...

Damian and a selfie with...

Carmel from 99 Lion King!

Back on the road, heading to Coonabarabran...

Didn't get much of a look at some of the mountains given the cloud cover... but they were still pretty good...

Jupiter... just hanging around...

A fence made out of old wagon wheels...

Arriving in Coonabarabran, and the obligatory town clock shot!

After a great day of driving, Retro Rock-It was muddy but undamaged, and the boys were looking forward to dinner and a good night's sleep!
