esCarpade Day 3 - Bundaberg to Calliope to Rockhampton

Waking up in Bundaberg, Damian first went to check on the oil situation under Retro Rock-It...

Hmmm... not fabulous.

While under the car checking, he also located and removed this rock stuck between the transmission sump and the bash plate!

Being unable to locate any specific leak, Damian moved the car and cleaned up the evidence...

After checking the oil level in the engine, it was off to breakfast!

A cool Kombi coffee van was there!

Driver briefing...

This morning was the first of two school visits for Retro Rock-It...

Lined up heading to the school...

Through Bundaberg and out the other side...

Lined up on the oval.

One of the buildings had the flood level marked on it.  This building was actually sitting on a little hill, so the depth was crazy!

Selfies inside the hall...

Once the school visit was finished, it was time to hit the road.

Past a cane train...

More roadworks!

After skipping a whole section of the morning run due to the school visit, the boys dropped onto the dirt and through the impressive Boolbunda Tunnel.

Out of the car to close a gate!  Always leave farm gates the way you found them!!

Plenty of cows on and near the roads today...

Of course, a selfie!

Car 50 and 505 having a code yellow!

Car 50 got a flat tyre... not requiring assistance, the boys continued through!

After a hot, dry, dusty and LONG run in the morning, the boys arrived at Calliope in time to have a quick bite to eat, then hit the road for the afternoon run!

Hoges took over driving duties, while Damian navigated.

There were a number of areas that had recently been burned...

And some areas where there were still active fires... the whole countryside seemed like a tinderbox ready to explode into flames at the slightest spark!

Slow!  Caution!

Car 42 (former sharkmobile, now pirates) had some kind of mechanical issue...

Again, there was no reason for the boys to stop (there was a Mechanical Workshop vehicle with them) so they continued along the track.

Car 808 (purple people eater) was there to keep 42 company!

After a great afternoon run, the boys reached Rockhampton!

Wednesday is the lay day - a day to rest, recover and repair if necessary... The boys will give Retro Rock-It a little love, and hopefully they will get a sleep in!
