esCarpade 2017 - Day 4 - Rest Day in Tweed Heads

Rest Day in Tweed Heads...  A tough view to wake up to - if you squint you can just make out the Gold Coast in the background!!

Here's a different shot of the same thing?

First job - get under the car to work out whether the exhaust is completely stuffed or not...

Sure is... a big section is flapping in the breeze...

After booking in for an exhaust repair, it was time to give Retro Rock-It a bit of a clean - seems a good option to wash some mud off since someone will need to work on it!!

Not that dirty, really...

At this point, Adam took over photography duties...

All bays filled with esCarpade vehicles...

Stretch!!

Washing...

Washing...

Washing...

And so on, and so forth...

Looking pretty clean now!!

Thirty seconds left... what to do?

Bwahahahaha...

With time to kill, the boys caught up with Ben and Nic from OV2 for lunch...

This odd blue camper van cruised past a few times...

After lunch, the boys went to check out the lookout on the top of the hill outside their hotel...  It seemed odd to be looking out to sea and actually looking north - felt as though it should be east!!

Not a bad view...

More view...

Looking over Rainbow Bay...

The afternoon rolled around, and the boys took Retro Rock-It for its exhaust repair...

The rear muffler is in pretty bad condition also... but it will have to wait for another day...

The front one is the culprit...

Up on the hoist...

Bill from Tweed City Exhaust & Towbar Specialists looked after the boys...

Cutting off the old one...

Looks even worse on the ground!!

Cutting a replacement bit of pipe to connect where the small muffler was... (Retro Rock-It had three mufflers - seems a bit greedy, really.)

Replacement pipe, nicely flanged out...

Damian squinting into the sun for a selfie...  Perhaps he could have worn his sunnies?

Welding in the new piece...

And finished...

Out it comes...

And ready for handing back to the boys...

Returning to the hotel, the welcoming committee let the boys know they were missing the happy hour on level 5...

Drinks and nibblies... let's have a selfie...

No, that didn't work, how about this one?

No, one person looking the wrong way... this one?  No... stuff it.

Everyone was looking at the bloke climbing down out of the crane...

You can see him on the ladder just below the crane dangly bit... (that's the technical term, you know).

Damian was touched to find that Tim had his name tattooed on his arm...  Creepy, but touched.

Clearly something interesting was happening in the carpark below...  like crows on a fence!!

After happy hour, it was time to head to dinner... Damian had a selfie with Jake, who was 10 when Damian started volunteering with Camp Quality, and is now the Queensland Fundraising dude (insert official title here).

Dinner was at the Ivory in Tweed Heads...

Always a giveaway when the banner is announcing your arrival!!

The view from the back deck where the boys were sitting...

Couple of good looking roosters having a selfie!!

Boat...

Rowing...

Getting darker...

Dusk...

Twilight...

Darkness...  nearly!!

After an early night, the boys headed back to the hotel to get a good night's sleep ready for the next day of driving... it will be a long day, and the weather forecast is for thunderstorms and large hail, so it might make for a very interesting blog post tomorrow night!!  (Or it might fizzle out to nothing... time will tell!!)
