esCarpade 2017 - Day 5 - Tweed Heads to Ipswich to Twin Waters (Afternoon)

Following lunch, the boys got into their outfits and headed towards the school for a visit...

A short drive out of town to instruction 10 on the route notes, and they had arrived...

Brassall State School!!

Some of the crazy characters...

Catwoman and Batman hamming it up for Damian's camera...

After unloading a bunch of water from the water cannons, and a gazillion lollies, it was time to hit the road...

Adam was driving for the arvo section...

Windy bitumen roads first up...

Past a pair of thunderboxes...

And to a bridge that had an alternate route THROUGH the water...  After being told there was about a 1m drop to just get to the alternate route, Damian sensibly said that they would stay on the bridge!!

Dirt!!  And cows...

Causeways and grids were the defining feature of the afternoon session...

And back onto bitumen...

A picture of concentration...

Past the Somerset Dam wall...

And past the dam itself...

Out through Kilcoy...

The light switches and trip meter in Retro Rock-It...

Heading out through Stoney Creek towards the Bellthorpe State Forest...

After climbing up through Bellthorpe, Retro Rock-It went from quarter full to alarms ringing in around 1km...  Thinking it was wise, the boys stopped and used the spare fuel...

One last grid, then back on the tarmac...

Through Maleny...

Out past Montville...

Then down the Razorback to Palmwoods...

Past Bli Bli castle...

And a curious police officer...

Before arriving at Twin Waters resort...

Pretty flash in the foyer...

And the view from the room is alright, too!!

So the driving for Day 5 came to an end, and the boys fuelled up Retro Rock-It, had a drink then headed to dinner...

Dinner blog to follow!!
