Yep, boring from this angle too...
A quick rinse off and wipe-down to get the dust off...
Shiny, but boring!!
A snappy 94km drive away was Billz, who Damian met at the recent Camp Quality Middle Camp... Billz is a gun graffiti artist, and agreed to throw some paint onto Retro Rock-It!!
First stop, spray paint... special paint with special lids for different styles...
Luckily, Billz has a steep driveway at his place, which will make the bonnet painting much easier!! First up, a bit of cardboard to protect the windscreen...
Billz spraying the first bit onto the bonnet...
Retro... You can see it, right?
More painting... see those little red bits on the edge? Damian did those, very badly!!
Rock-It... yeah!!
Layer by layer the picture builds up...
Looking good!!
Billz moving onto the front guard...
Nice close up of the bonnet...
Ohhh... flames!!
Oh yeah... that's the shot!!
Damian taking a selfie while Billz worked on the driver's side...
Damian told Billz that he wanted Retro Rock-It across the back, so people behind could read it... Painting without even drawing it out first - the man has talent!!
Touching up a couple of bits on the bonnet now that the rest has dried...
Half time, turn the car around!!
Starting on a rocket...
RR... The Retro Rock-It rocket!!
Boot lid was up next, and in a nod to Booger Mobile, some nice green paint was in order...
All 80's all the time!!
And finished...
Amazingly, the rain held off long enough to get all this fabulous work done...
Damian and Billz, with a perfect selfie - Giggle, Billz, Damian, "Man Up", the rocket, the flames and number 64 all featuring!!
Done and dusted!!
Showing Billz's kids the lights...
Billz admiring his handiwork...
Somehow, Damian managed to get neither of the amber strobes, neither of the green strobes, and only a sliver of amber rotator in this picture... got the full rear facing white light though!!
Heading home, the bonnet now looks markedly different...
And home...
Looks a bit different now!!
Passenger side looking the goods!!
Boot lid looks awesome!!
Retro Rock-It!!
And an arty-farty shot from above...
Of course, the Team Booger Mobile safety vests would now need to be retired, so Damian had a couple done up by Billz... Guess which one is Damian's?
And a glamour shot of the finished bonnet...
Less than two weeks till esCarpade, and Retro Rock-It finally has some street cred, with an awesome theme implemented by the hugely talented Billz...
Only a few more fiddly jobs remain, and Damian now thinks that he really will be ready in time!!
Looking real flash Damo. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteNearly ready!! Amazing how the theme morphs as implementation occurs...
DeleteSo obviously this means that your source of weather info was in fact BOM... 40% chance of rain... Yeah right!
ReplyDeleteLOOKING GREAT BTW!
It did in fact rain on me on the way home... I suspect we got it finished just in time... we... hehehe... See how I claimed that awesome work?
DeleteWow what an AWESOME piece of art
ReplyDeleteRetro Rock it is really looking the part.
All ready for to travel the highways and byways
