esCarpade 2017 - Day 5 - Tweed Heads to Ipswich to Twin Waters (Morning)

Day 5 - the day of driving after rest day...  The boys headed to the park for breakfast to find Officialus esCarpadius in their natural habitat, forming a protective circle around their leader...

Breakfast was put on by the Coolangatta Tweed Lions Club, and they did a sterling job!!

One of the South Qld Camp Quality volunteers Kate came down to see Damian and the rest of the esCarpadians...

Driver briefing - all tracks open, all systems go!!

How many MW's does it take to look at the front of a Jeep?

Off on the morning run, heading towards Ipswich for lunch...

Heading inland, and up into the hills...

And a bit of sugar cane to boot!!

Of course, what morning of driving would be complete without funky bridges?

Crossing the border from NSW to Qld...

And in to Natural Bridge for a fun stop.

The fun stop was setting five different watches to 8:30am in the shortest time...

The boys didn't walk to Natural Bridge, as they were part of the school visit group for just after midday...

Selfie time!!

Tough to tell which way to turn...

The sign didn't lie... this was a very steep climb!!

Good view from the top though!!

Stopped at roadworks... of course!!

Good time for a happy snap... oh quick, the light has turned green!!

Steep and winding descent...

Check out this corner!!

Finally, a bit of dirt!!

That section was short lived, though!!

Damian thought the Ghost Busters team might be keen to visit Spengler Road...

Woot!!  More dirt!!

Then back onto the bitumen...

Back onto the dirt...

Driving behind a water truck, dampening the road...

Stopped for more roadworks...

And overtaken by the water truck... oh the humanity!!

This was a fun little dirt road...

And finally back onto bitumen for the run into Ipswich for lunch...

Retro Rock-It checking in!!

Lunch at the Queens Park Café, Ipswich.

So after a pleasant morning driving, the roads were awesome, and the boys were ready for a quick bite to eat then their school visit...

Afternoon blog to follow.
